Club Captains 6 Monthly Report 2006
It is now 6 months since I “took over” the position of Club Captain & Board Member. It has been quite a learning curve...Thanks to the Board, Committee & co-opted helpers for all their assistance. Thanks to Neville & Margaret for all valuable work you do.
This year we had five teams in the Kaikoura Cup in which Kaiapoi B finished second in the Gardner Trophy division.
The four Templeton Cup teams all reached the quarter finals but because of the draw only three are in the semi finals “All we need now is the trophy”. Good luck. Let’s hope we can enter more teams into next year’s competition.
Well done Tyrone Nelson for finishing sixth in the 72 hole stroke play at Coringa. It was a great second round of 68.
The Easter Tournament was a great success with excellent weather. Thanks to all who ran it in my absence.
The preparations for the centenary are progressing well according to the Chairman, Steve Cassidy. The history book which is currently being compiled by Evan Thomson is making good progress and should make excellent reading. Any help with these areas would be received gratefully.
The Green keeper Peter Commons, and his team are doing an excellent job on the course and the greens have been the big winners. The problem with pitch marks and divots was seriously highlighted by you at the end of May.
To pick up and replace the odd divot and repair a couple of pitch marks when going to your ball will help in keeping the course looking good.
The alterations and improvements to the course are going well and there seems to be good feedback from the Greens Committee.
The catering crew headed by Mike, are doing a good job and now that the on-license has been approved, the restaurant should do well. An up-grading of the interior of the clubhouse will enhance it even further.
To all members, may I say thanks for all your encouragement and help and if there is anything you wish to discuss I am always willing to listen and pass on to the Board any suggestions you may have.
There is a lot to do next year with the Centenary celebrations approaching and October 27th 2007 will be a day to remember.
