KAIAPOI GOLF CLUB (INC) MEN'S SECTION

SIX MONTHLY REPORT TO THE BOARD 2005

A good start to the year with a very successful New Year Open, we had a great field, good weather and good feedback about the tournament.   Special thanks to Trish Taylor, Steve and Jill Cassidy for running the day.

A team of four players entered the Montana Teams Event, held at Waimairi Beach.   The   team was Matt Adam, Glen Drummond, Marcus Mariu and Craig Prebble.   Unfortunately the team could not repeat the efforts of the last two years, but still a great try.

The Easter tournament this year was again very successful, good fields both days.   It was a different format this year with it being a 36-hole tournament; we had a lot of good comments so that was great.   A special thanks to both playing Committee's and to Wally Campbell who did the starting on both days.

Interclub:   At the moment of writing this report our interclub teams are doing great.   We have four Kaikoura and three Templeton Cup Teams and they are all up there, keep it going fellas.

The Sunday games are being introduced again this year with a game once a month.   A special thanks to Steve and Jill Cassidy again for running these.

Over the past few months the scorecards have been monitored to check the stroke holes.   Saturday cards only have been done and the results are very interesting.   One thousand cards were done and there are about five holes that show a big change.   Special thanks to Brian and Jo Ford for all their time monitoring these scores.   We still have a lot of old score cards to use up before we can get new ones printed, about three months.   It will be at this stage the Committee's will decide if the new stroke holes will be put into place.

There is a good feeling in the Club this year; I haven't heard too many gripes.   The course is in great order – a special thanks to the Greens Staff.   Placing is being put back on as we are entering winter and we will monitor it through the year.

In summing up it has been a positive first six months.   Saturday's have had good fields which is really great to see.  

I would like to thank the Men's and Ladies Committees, Neville and the Board for their support.   Also a special thanks to Marg Mundy, Brent and Patricia.
