The Team

Turf contracting was established three years ago by me and my wife Anne with its primary contract being that of the maintenance of the Kaiapoi Golf Club.

Peter Commons Profile;

I have been in the Golf Course maintenance industry since leaving school in 1983 to begin my Golf Course apprenticeship at Russley Golf Club where I worked for seven and a half years and had become the first assistant which hosted a New Zealand open and the World Women’s Amateur team’s championships

I left there to work in Canada for a golf course construction company [Sid Puddicombe and Ass.] working on seven developments there and are still involved with them on projects around New Zealand. Since returning to New Zealand I have worked at;

Terrace Downs in there set up; Everglades Golf and Country Club for 18 months as sole charge greenkeeper; then Rangiora Golf Club for 11 years before setting up Turf Contracting with my wife.

Turf Contracting Profile;

Turf Contracting employs two staff; Ann Commons and Keri Tomlins as mowing operators and general maintenance.

Turf Contracting also undertakes “out work “[commercial & residential] which includes lawn laying, lawn renovations, fertilizing, spraying of lawns and lifestyle properties [up to a 6 metre wide boom.],mowing of sports fields, golf course renovations and redevelopment, commercial and residential advisory service.

Turf Contracting and the Kaiapoi Golf club are working together to improve the standard of the course and have signed up for another three years.
