Ladies Club Captain 12 Monthly Report 2007

I have much pleasure in presenting my report for 2007.

Interclub

Our season has again been successful with some of our Ladies performing well in C.W.G. competitions.  We had three teams in this competition.  Our 36 Hole Bronze team played Lincoln on Finals Day at McLeans Island Golf Club.  They were the runner up team.  Our Weekend Interclub team played Coringa at Russley Golf Club and this time Kaiapoi were the winning team.  Then our 18 Hole team won their final against Clearwater which was held on the Harewood Old Course, so two out of three was a great result.

South Island U23

In January, Kaiapoi hosted the Girls South Island under 23 Championships.  The weather was cold & wet on the Saturday but by Sunday had cleared and a successful tournament ended with prize giving at 3pm.

Plunket Tournament

Our annual Plunket Tournament was held in May this year.  A cheque for $876.00 was presented to the local branch of Plunket which was gratefully accepted.

February Teams Tournament

We held our annual Teams Tournament with an excellent field of 108 women.

Championships

Finals day on Saturday 28th April was very wet, but a few brave spectators ventured out to watch the field do their best. Congratulations to our three champions.  Silver, Kerry Mariu, Bronze A, Val Burnett, & Bronze B, Pam Blair.

Champion of Champions Day

This year the competition was held at McLeans Island Golf Club.  Our representatives were Kerry Mariu, Val Burnett & Diane Brown and although unplaced, enjoyed their day.

Ringers Competition.

Our Ringer representatives Sharon Worrall & Eve Leggett played at Amberley and were placed 4th.

Well done ladies.

Boyle Cup

On Wednesday 27th June we lost the Boyle Cup to Waitikiri, so after 4 years of tense challenges the prized trophy has left our cabinet   We can challenge for it again next year

Mid Winter Xmas

The day began wet, but by 10-30am it had cleared enough for some of the ladies to play 9 holes, then come in for a nice Xmas lunch.

Presentation Night

On Monday November 12th our annual dinner was held with 45 ladies enjoying a Spit Roast meal prepared by Mike and his staff.  Afterwards the prize giving saw many holding the spoils of their golfing abilities.

Well done everyone.

Xmas Open Tournament

We look forward to our annual Xmas Tournament to be played on Tuesday 27th November.

Thanks

To Neville and Margaret in the office my sincere thanks for all your help.  Marg, your computer work has made my work a lot easier.

To Jean Blackwell, Elizabeth Bryden-Evans and Val Oram for the floral arrangements so often admired and Lyn Rainey and her helpers for the gardens which are looking extremely nice this year.

To Peter and Staff for the condition of the course; there have been many compliments from visiting golfers on tournament and interclub days.

To my Committee who have helped the Ladies section run so smoothly and to all personnel who have volunteered their time during tournaments and in helping to promote the Kaiapoi Golf Club.  As we end our Centennial year, may we all look to the future of our great little golf club.

Merry Christmas to you all, may 2008 be a great golfing year.
