KAIAPOI JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT

 PROGRAM

EVALUATION SESSIONS

Throughout the outlined program there will be sessions evaluating the progress of players.

At the beginning of the summer 2008 program and at the conclusion of the Winter 2009 program.

Results are recorded, players weak areas identified and stored on player record for future comparisons.

These are 2-hour sessions with players moving around different assessment stations.

The sessions assess the following technical aspects of each player:

* Grip

* Aim

* Set Up

* Posture

* Ball Position

* Swing Plane

* Impact

* Chipping

* Putting

Each player is assessed on his or her shot making ability.

Using a framed “H” shaped matrix each player will be observed hitting the following shots to a 130 metre target,

* Low trajectory

* High trajectory

* Hook

* Slice

* Straight

Players understanding of each shot will be noted.

* Alignment and Set Up

* Club Selection

* Distance Control

* Impact

Other methods used to assess each player

1. Dot Handicap System.

Each player in these groups will have a handicap record registered with New Zealand Golf. As these scores are entered progress can be measured.

This also involves rounds on different courses, tournament and casual play.

As part of the program players will be made aware of the tournaments suitable for them to play both at Club and Canterbury level.

2. Target “H” Matrix

As mentioned above this is an “H “ shaped structure standing approximately 7 foot high. Placed 10 metres in front of the player the ball needs to be curved around, under or over the crossbars and uprights.

The landing area can be placed in any position for pitching or distance shots.
